Why Milan?
Milan: The lifestyle capital of Italy
Milan may not be the official capital of Italy, but it's what's the hype is all about. The whole world of design and fashion gathers here for Salone del Mobile and Milan Fashion Week.
Here there's also one of Europe's major stock exhcanges and the Italian heart of business. Excellent transportation and city services mean that Milan is the most European of all Italian cities. Add to that amazing food, architecture and history, and you have every reason to come visit Milan.
Restaurants
My favorite restaurants in Milan
Altatto
Off the beaten areas, Altatto is probably the best addition to Milan's restaurant offering in the past years. Vegetarian cuisine and natural wines.
Address
Via Comune Antico 15
What I like about it
The menu is executed at a level deserving all-star awards. The service is excellent, striking the perfect balance between professional and friendly. And the price for the four-course menu is a bargain.
Gastronomia Yamamoto
A lovely place five minutes from Duomo on foot, Gastronomia Yamamoto offers traditional Japanese cuisine.
Address
Via Amedei 5
What I like about it
The menu is based around the idea of what a Japanes grandma would cook for the family. The whole staff is the best display of the renowed Japanese kindness. The tasting menu is very reasonably prices, and if you like sake, pairings are available.
La Società
In the Porta Venezia district, La Società offers a twist on contemporary Italian cuisine in a wunderkammer-like decor.
Address
Via Panfilo Castaldi 19
What I like about it
The menu is pure fun, and the cocktails are just as good. The hosts are characters straight out of a movie, and they'll make tiramisu right at your table, pouring the coffee from a traditional moka.
